Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Janis Reisulis has placed fifth overall at the MXGP of Sweden with brother Karlis close behind in seventh. The teammates performed well at the 15th round of the campaign and leave the Uddevalla circuit with another solid points haul as the series nears its conclusion.
J. Reisulis was fast all weekend in Sweden aboard his Yamaha YZ250FM, qualifying fourth and posting the fastest lap time in Sunday morning’s Warm-up. In the opening race at the hardpack and tight circuit, the reigning EMX250 Champion took advantage of his strong start and shadowed the leading riders from third place. In the closing stages, he lost a position to Camden McLellan, but, with a sizable margin over fifth, he chased McLellan home for a solid fourth place finish.
In Race Two, the Latvian couldn’t quite replicate his excellent start from the opening race and, after running fifth on the opening lap, he slipped to sixth. From there, and with the track offering little to separate the field, he maintained his position to the finish. Placing sixth secured fifth overall on the day for his ninth top-five overall result this season. Leaving Sweden, the MX2 class rookie remains sixth in the series standings.
Throughout the weekend in Uddevalla, K. Reisulis fell multiple times, but left round 15 with a solid haul of points. In the opening race he was involved in a lap one incident where he tangled with another rider and was forced to start from the back of the pack. From there, he charged through the field to 10th at the finish.
Race Two was a lot less eventful for the 20-year-old who placed seventh for seventh overall. With four rounds remaining, K. Reisulis comfortably maintains seventh in the championship standings.
The MX2 World Championship continues next weekend with the MXGP of the Netherlands before rounds in Turkiye, China, and Australia complete the campaign in September.

“It was a difficult day and the results feel a little bit disappointing, even though they weren’t too bad. I think my pace was quite good, especially in the first moto. In the second one, I struggled a little more and couldn’t push as hard as I would have liked. Overall, though, it was a good weekend and fifth overall today isn’t so bad. A big thanks to the whole Yamaha team for all the work they put in. I really appreciate it.”

“I hurt my leg when I crashed in timed practice yesterday and over the weekend I had three crashes in total. The last one left me feeling quite sore, too. In the first moto, I had a decent start considering my gate pick and was around eighth, but then I got taken out by two riders and had to fight my way back from there. My start in the second moto was okay and I was in quite a good position before I went off the track. I rejoined, made some passes, and eventually finished seventh. Overall, considering how the weekend started, I’m happy that the second moto was better. I’m now looking forward to next weekend and getting back in the sand.”
